A Historic Celebration of Music, Culture and Community in Vancouver
Canada International Arts & Music Society (CIAMS) is honoured to announce that Mayor Ken Sim and the City of Vancouver have officially proclaimed August 18, 2026 as “Vancouver International Music Day.”
This historic proclamation recognizes the important role that music plays in bringing people together, enriching our communities, inspiring young people, and strengthening Vancouver’s vibrant cultural landscape.
The proclamation is particularly meaningful as CIAMS celebrates its continued commitment to promoting music education, artistic excellence, cultural exchange, and opportunities for musicians of all ages and backgrounds.
Founded in 2017, CIAMS has organized numerous international music initiatives and events in Vancouver, including the Vancouver International Music Competition (VIMC) and the Vancouver International Music Festival (VIMF). Through competitions, masterclasses, concerts, and cultural exchange programs, CIAMS has welcomed talented musicians, educators, adjudicators, and music lovers from Vancouver and around the world.
The proclamation of Vancouver International Music Day also comes during an exciting year for CIAMS. The 2026 Vancouver International Music Festival-Competition will take place from October 9–11, 2026, culminating in a Gala Concert and Awards Ceremony at the prestigious Orpheum Theatre Vancouver on October 11.
As Vancouver continues to grow as a diverse and dynamic cultural centre, CIAMS is proud to contribute to the city’s artistic community and to celebrate the universal language of music.
